  • Goatmoon (FIN) – What Once Was…Shall Be Again LP 30.88

    Black Metal

In 2017, GOATMOON truly etched its name its Finnish black metal legendry with Stella Polaris, a monument of cosmic, snow-capped majesty. The entirely dungeon synth Silver Serpent followed in 2021, but now arrives GOATMOON’s full-length return to black metal with What Once Was… Shall Be Again. As presaged by its title, there’s an undeniably yearning and nostalgic aspect to the band’s characteristically epic ruminations, occasionally/often dusted by folkloric synths. But if one were to assume that What Once Was… Shall Be Again would further continue that refinement – and indeed, in large part, it does – the album equally takes GOATMOON back to their earliest, rawest roots, here temped by the steely-eyed austerity of older age and wisdom. It’s a skillful balance pulled off with aplomb, proving that the band honor their history but rarely repeat themselves. And more than anything, it provides another dazzling new canvas on which warriors and dreamers can explore…but no safe spaces here, of course. No other words necessary: What Once Was… Shall Be Again!

    The 1995 masterpiece finally re-issued!
In The Woods… originally started out as the death metal band Green Carnation, until the bands lead member (main composer and guitarist Tchort) left to join the black metal legends Emperor. After Tchorts departure, the remaining band members formed In The Woods…, releasing their first demo in 1993. They released their much praised first full length album, HEart Of The Ages, in 1995. It smells of pagan myths from the deep, eternal forests. A true melancholic atmosphere, haunting a hidden world.

  • Isengard (NOR) – Vinterskugge DLP 36.88

    Black Metal

Isengard was the solo-project started in 1989 by Fenriz – one the key driving forces behind Norwegian legends Darkthrone – because he had many musical ideas to explore that didn’t strictly fit in with the style and music of Darkthrone. Under the Isengard moniker, Fenriz released 2 albums, ‘Vinterskugge’ & ‘Høstmørke’.

‘Vinterskugge’ consists of 3 separate recordings made between 1989 & 1993, and contains a whole multitude of styles, including doom, rock, folk, death, black & Viking metal. Vinterskugge also demonstrated Fenriz’s breadth of vocal styles, lending an epic edge to many of the tracks.

  • Kaosritual (NOR) – Svøpt Morgenrød LP 32.88

    Black Metal

The band was founded, rehearsed and recorded based off our interpretations of early 90’s Black Metal. The era of murder, arson, Black Magick and spite. I firmly believe what you hear on these recordings, are the same chaos that fueled the originators, and is as genuine as the old classics. I was sitting right there alongside H. “Sarath” Dalen, while he recorded this on tape in the basement of our record store Apocalyptic Empire, in the heart of Nidaros back in 2005. Reminiscing back, I’ll never forget the intense atmosphere, dedication and focus the band had, something I’ve never experienced since, just like their live shows. Nothing will ever compare. The store was very much exactly what Helvete was in the 90’s: a record store ran by us for us, with a basement where recordings were happening non stop, even during the opening hours. The basement was a collective ground for us where lifelong friendships arose, parties ensued, and inspirations were endless. Imagine locking up a bunch of miscreants devoted to the same cause, with no boundaries, no thought or respect for anyone, just all focused on one thing: BLACK METAL. This was always for ourselves, hence why releases are so sporadic. I am truly grateful to not only having been there throughout the beginning, but to have been granted the exclusive right to release several of these gems, and to be able to call these genuine artists and individuals my close friends to this day.

We present to you the restored version of the one and only KAOSRITUAL – Svøpt morgenrød, plus the infamous Rituell katarsis demo and more, remastered by our friend M. of MGLA/No Solace. A special thanks to him for adding his magick to these incredible recordings, and I want to personally thank Blix and Tvedt for letting me finally unleash this upon the world.

  • Lord Valtgryftake (CL) – Buried Under the Carved Runes LP 30.88

    Black Metal

After a compilation based on works from the past, Lord Valtgryftåke “Buried Under the Carved Runes” is a totally fresh and very characteristic facet of this veteran is now shown. A sound coupling of rustic, old and classic aspect of the old pioneering hordes of black metal, this work enhances with malevolent winds some of the chamber recordings, never finished rehearsals etc, all this made available again in a new and characterful album.

Leaving a really interesting overture together with an intense lyrical message, pagan and full of southern mysticism. One of the main decisions to take into consideration was to venture into the old Nordic, Greek and Polish sounds to give an evil form to this new spectrum and transcend various parameters of minimalism orchestrated by a black twilight…

  • Mooncitadel (FIN) – Night’s Scarlet Symphonies LP 26.88

    Black Metal

At long last, the full fathom of MOONCITADEL’s now-transcendent powers arrives with the band’s long-awaited debut album, Night’s Scarlet Symphonies. If past MOONCITADEL recordings bore titles evocative of their respective contents, then surely Night’s Scarlet Symphonies trumps them all: here is a bountiful feast of splendorous, widescreen black metal mysticism that’s reverent of the mid ’90s whilst channeling energies new and untold. Everything about MOONCITADEL’s debut album – spiraling melodicism, folkloric atmosphere, impassioned performance, engrossing totality – maximizes the duo’s previous works to their fullest potential, all threaded together by a never-too-raw soundfield that heightens these elements further. Which is to say nothing of its attendant song titles; over the course of its impossibly vast 47-minute runtime, some of Night’s Scarlet Symphonies include “Ablaze My Heart With Falling Stars,” “Nightwind was the Passage Between Worlds,” “Whispering Cry of Magick Undying,” and especially “Monumental Silver Thorns” all conveying this (monumental, silvery, magickal) headspace.

  • Moonlight Sorcery (FIN) – Horned Lord Of The Thorned Castle PURPLE LP 30.88

    Black Metal

It’s about time to reveal all the faces of the night! Moonlight Sorcery will release their first full-length album entitled Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle on September 29th. Expect nothing but an ice cold blizzard that will conquer your castles, crumble your towers and withhold the daylight forever!

Horned Lord Of The Thorned Castle is a perfect combination of the atmosphere from Piercing Through the Frozen Eternity and the rawness of Nightwind: The Conqueror from the Stars, the band’s two EPs released in 2022 and early 2023.

Moonlight Sorcery wants to raise the bar, and these new nine songs have even more melodic hooks and shreddy guitar work. Frozen synth walls further develop the Finnish trio’s unique sound, a vibe you cannot find in any other black metal record.

Horned Lord Of The Thorned Castle follows a specific narrative, and its nine compositions tell a single tale, with every song starting where the previous one left off. “Basically, our debut could be a single 44-minute song”, the band said. Yet, the pleasure of learning such a tale is yours. Prepare, wanderer, to meet the Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle!

  • Mysticum (NOR) – In the Streams of Inferno LP 32.88

    Black Metal

One of the pioneering industrial black metal forces to emerge in the early 90’s, Mysticum brought to the world a completely unique brand of extreme & psychedelic discordant black metal with insane drum machine patterns & synths. They were originally signed to Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence Productions label, such was his belief in the band (Mysticum even featured Hellhammer from Mayhem in their line-up for a brief period). However, this venture proved to be cut short following his death, forcing Mysticum to look elsewhere for the release of their eventual debut album, ‘In the Streams of Inferno’, finally surfacing in 1996.

  • Odium (NOR) – The Sad Realm of the Stars LP 28.88

    Black Metal

Odium is a name that hasn’t been talked about much in the symphonic black metal scene. Formed in 1994, the Norwegian band didn’t release much besides a demo, a single, and their only studio album “The Sad Realm of the Stars”. The 1998 album received little recognition when it was first released since it was seen as more of a Limbonic Art knockoff. However, when you give the album a listen, you’ll see that it’s more than just a cheap ripoff of Limbonic Art. Not only does it expand upon the Limbonic Art sound, but it also stands out in its own ways.
