Verdun,1916 expands heavily into the precise combination of martial sound collage and cold mechanical noise fog, supposedly created through archival interviews with veterans, members of GOH travelled to the old battlefields for field recordings, scrapping war objects along the side of the old bullet holed pill boxes and collected fragments of shrapnel, helmets, belt buckles, rations, casings etc. creating hand-made metal percussion and crude art brut electrical conductors.

One of the few or only current industrial collectives that follows in the tradition of the early avant-garde while expanding further into chemical ambience delivered with the neutrality of a doomed soldier’s field side doctor.

Dungeon Synth

Originally issued as a cassette EP, ‘pIague harvest’ encrypts the further transformation into pure dark ambience. Field recordings yanked from the trees like dead leaves mix with streams of electronics running beneath the soil. Included also is a bonus 10” of ‘ruination, a new dawn cometh,’ which was previously only available digitally, exposing again a precursor and foreshadowing of this cautionary tale that what sustains life can easily grow to smother it.

the masterful new album from oId tower. Traditional and yet alien, the deconstruction of regression as transformation from man to beast, which conceptually was felt throughout the project’s wanderings but steps forth fully from the shadows on ‘the old king of witches.’ Shaving down to the bone and trimming the fat of the carcass to incant without rest and without resolution, oId tower resurrects the dying breed of dark ambient with ’90s deep electronics to conceive of a new form of DARK MUSIC.

A cult was built around these this truly ominous original tape with slowed down mega-apocalyptic drone drum contemplations.

Despite being created over a decade ago for limited double cassette and then compiled on ‘it stands to conceal’ this is long form esoteric cold industrial perfectly suitable for our accelerating global amnesia.
