Black Metal

Grimdor is a black metal/dungeon synth project based on the stories of Tolkien. You won’t find clear and complex songs here, the band focuses much more on LoFi quality and catchy song structures like the early second wave of black metal. The simplicity of the early 90s, primitively produced songs/rehearsals that in no way reinvent the wheel – these are raw, arcane and ancients sounds. Different places and stories are thematically treated,misantrophy and call of the mountain and the woods.

2016’s “Akallabeth” by THANGORODRIM was previously released in a one time cassette edition of 100 on the cult Metalstrom Recordings. This EP was composed a few months after “Taur Nu Fuin” and is comprised of two long songs on side A, plus two additional bonus tracks on side B which were originally released as part of the digital only compilation “V/A Tolkien Inspired Music” by Olog Productions, also in early 2016 and which soon faded into obscurity. Highest recommendation!

2016’s “Dagor Bragalloch” by THANGORODRIM was previously released in a one time DIY cassette edition of 66(?) on the cult Wolfrune Worxxx label only. This demo is considered officially the “first” proper Thangorodrim demo (more on that later…) and is comprised of 4 tracks of Tolkien inspired old school dungeon synth.
This recording sees Thangorodrim use some synth sounds unheard on their other recordings since, gigantic booming drums, and some of the finest melodies ever created by the project. Highest recommendation!!
