  • Altered Heresy (BEL) / Dakhanavar (USA) – Split MC 14.88

    Black Metal

With prior releases coming from the exalted like of Goatowarex, Atrocity Altar and a couple splits with esteemed colleagues, Altered Heresy have definitely made a splash since their arrival in 2018. This split offers them a further platform to batter their audience with their torrid blend of black metal with a searing industrial edge. The drums seem to hum they are so blindingly quick, however they almost lull the listener into a trance a the hypnotic and off-kilter melody and razor sharp malevolence of the songs assault the listeners consciousness.
With no formal introduction or preface Dakhanavar seem to crawl out of a bizarre celestial hippodrome and break forth with epic callous savagery that is as melodic and captivating as it is crass and off-putting. If this first track from a new project of the Astral Serpent is any indication of what is to come, beware.”

  • Azathoths Dream (USA) – Nocturnal Vampyric Bewitchment MC 14.88

    Black Metal

AZATHOTH’S DREAM are a brand-new entity hailing from the United States. On one hand, the one-man band’s sound is undeniably late ’90s French vintage, maintaining a similarly necrotic-yet-aristocratic mysticism not unlike Osculum Infame, Bekhira, Winter Funeral, and very early Seth. On the other, one could liken AZATHOTH’S DREAM to the uprising of raw vampiric black metal in the U.S., spearheaded by Sanguine Relic, Vampirska, early Lamp of Murmuur, and Geist of Ouachita among others.

  • Birkabein ‎(DEU) – Malevolance & Glory LP 32.88

    Black Metal

German black metal act formed in 1999 by multi-instrumentalists Machosias and B.S.oD. Machosias performed bass, drums and guitars on the album, enlisting help from fellow OLD PAGAN member Panzer Nidhogg for vocals and NELANDHIR member Freydagson for keyboards. The album is rooted somewhere between raw black metal and atmospheric black metal. The guitar riffs are enjoyable, with flowing tremolo riffing leading, creating a fuzzy wall of sound in the background that merges with the flourishes of atmospheric keyboard notes while the drumming sticks with fast paced double-bass runs and double-kick patterns, with a solid undercarriage of tremolo riffing and frenetic percussion. True black metal for true black metal fanatics.

  • Moongate (USA) – Over Thick Ice LP 32.88

    Black Metal

Consisting of the entirety of this band’s output to present this two track demo is a scathing opening manifesto in metal ferocity. Each track sprawls itself out into movements that span various metal styles seamlessly. Without feeling like separate tracks the opening tracks “Seeking Our Monolith in the Night” defies tempo and characteristic limitations while creating a luminous meditative twenty minute opus. As if that wasn’t quite enough “At Last, the Moongate” closes the release by exploring these auditory realms even further and brings in other elements to round out the release in an even further hypnotic fashion. Enveloping, engaging, and slightly terrifying.

This mysterious band released this album originally on tape in 2018 and have remained silence since. They’ve been likened to Sanguine Eagle and Paysage d’Hiver, though such statements don’t do this justice. Avoid to your own detriment.

  • Unearthly Birth (USA) – Macrodosing Inhuman Growth Hormone MC 14.88

    Black Metal

Inhuman gr0wth hormone (IGH) is a Alien substance that regulates the body’s growth and metabolism. In larger doses IGH has also proven to relieve the mind of anxiety and instil a supernatural sense of power and superiority in the user. IGH is made by the Alien pituitary gland, located at the base of their brain. IGH helps shed weakness of the mind, increases muscle mass, and decreases body fat. Humans sometimes take IGH illegally to stop or reverse the effects of aging or to improve athletic and mental performance. Humans can experience harmful side effects when they abuse IGH. Side effects of short-term use include temporary altered appearance and muscle pain, fluid build-up, and swelling in the joints.Taking high doses of IGH over a long period of time may contribute to a permanent change of appearance and a increase in strength and mental function so severe it`s seldom handled by the human body and should be considered fatal. The few survivors of extreme IGH abuse are said to resemble something “truly satanic in both appearance and spirit” and are forced to dwell below the Earth`s surface in dark bunkers and crawlways.

  • กาฬพราย (TH) – ธรณีหงชาด LP 32.88

    Black Metal

Arriving in 2020, amid the height of the pandemic, กาฬพราย (pronounced kan-prai) hails from the recent hotbed of raw black metal depravity, Thailand. Little is known about the mysterious entity behind this project, however the relentless torrent of fast paced, shredding, shrill, unrestrained black metal, punctuated by melancholic respites speaks volumes. A barrage of immense brutality with vocals that hiss and stab through the layers of spiteful sound, this demo announced กาฬพราย emphatically.

Released now for the first time on LP format this demo is only the beginning, but a venomous genesis it is for this one-man (พินาศสุราลัย) raw black metal force.
