Sulphuric Night (BiH) – Arcane Monoliths Of Triumphant Death DLP
€32.88
Raw Black Metal
Sulphuric Night is definitely one of the most compelling names to originate from the endlessly creative Bosnian Underground scene. Through a series of releases showcasing an outstandingly austere and crude approach, it is utterly mesmerizing the way this horde casts absolute and intense darkness with its disturbing arrangements. Compiling material that was originally released in very limited quantities, “Arcane Monoliths of Triumphant Death” is a more than welcoming and comprehensive collection of a vault that goes back to 2013. Mastered directly from the original master tapes and perfectly prepared for the most captivating sonic experience, this assembly chronologically presents a distressing vault marked by eerily cruel riffs and ferocious rhythmic outbursts, insanely possessed vocals and a general suffocating atmosphere of vicious dread.

RUTTOKOSMOS are one of the great “what if?”s of Finnish black metal. The band formed sometime in 2003 and released the five-song Ja minä näin kuoleman demo in 2006 and then the six-song Kärsimys demo a year later. Afterward, nothing was heard from RUTTOKOSMOS ever again. Only one member concurrently played in Divina Inferis, and the other two members either disappeared and played pseudonymously in other bands.

Building upon that grand fortress is a four-song/22-minute mini-album likewise truly titled: The Oath of the Black Wolf. Here, ORGREL have gone a-hunting, their ’90s black metal classicism stalking and striking with a hunger only hinted at previously. Still, fueled by this fire they may be, the Italians across this mini manage to maximize their epic side, with the predecessor’s flat-yet-full soundfield now becoming slightly more chromatic in the process. Lead lines portend dark truths, ever building in tension and then grandeur, but the record’s swift-yet-satisfying runtime reveals the darkest, most intrinsic truth: black metal doesn’t need to “become” anything when it already IS. Hail The Oath of the Black Wolf!

Emerging from the void of black devotion, Vampirska, The U.S.-based Raw Black Metal entity offers two of it’s most decrepit hymns yet. Walls of overwhelming chaos and depravity with the essence of mysterious and punishing raw black metal that emits an enchanting hypnoticism. The bombardment of devastation is met with another familiar entity of the grotesque and disgusting chambers; Wampyric Rites, the Ecuadorian spectre of the Black Metal Plague Circle. A two-part deliverance of malevolance and agony that call forth an intense massacre of total hatred and suffering. The conspiracy of these two entities brings four summonings to be unleashed onto the hordes.

Negros Manifestos de Ordem Venusiana, a split LP presented on noble vinyl, to honor the ancient ways.
Indeed, both hordes wholly honor the ancient ways, and understandably are two of the mightiest and most respected hordes in Portugal’s nowadays raw black metal scene.
Negros Manifestos de Ordem Venusiana is something of an intergenerational pairing, however, as MONS VENERIS have been prolifically polluting the underground since 2003 while ORDEM SATANICA, by comparison, started their near-equally prolific onslaught in 2014.
Nevertheless, as representatives of the Portuguese Black Metal, here on Negros Manifestos de Ordem Venusiana do both hordes create provocative portrayals of their unique darkness and despair.
ORDEM SATANICA are on Side A and unfurl three haunting and medieval tracks, roaming the castle with that spectral rawness they’ve truly made their own the last few years.
MONS VENERIS are on Side B and offer an epic, side-long track that roams the rawest dungeons, spanning punkish bash and hypnotic hysteria alike, torrents of noise to ruin your soul.
