At long last, OSMOSE PRODUCTIONS reissues ANOREXIA NERVOSA’s classic Drudenhaus on vinyl format! Forecasted by the transitional Sodomising the Archedangel EP just a year earlier, Drudenhaus completed ANOREXIA NERVOSA’s aesthetic makeover into grand symphonic black metal tyrants just as the new millennium was beginning. Whereas the previous EP displayed a crazed version of symphonic black metal, here the band presented a more finessed and dynamic version of the subgenre, truly putting their own unique – and diabolically French – twist on it, giving rise to high drama and epic feelings. Although issued on picture disc format during its original release, now Drudenhaus receives the proper full-vinyl treatment – enter the halls of madness once again!

“Torturous Omens of Blood and Candlewax” is the debut LP of Raw Black Metal entity VAMPIRSKA, who has established itself as a titan among the scene of this Lo-Fi and enchanting style of black metal. Originally released in Autumn 2020, “Torturous Omens of Blood and Candlewax” pushed VAMPIRSKA into the eyes of many after a large release on CS, CD and LP format. Six tracks with a consistent blend of furious, depressive, and elegant melodies carried into existence with punishing drumming.

Here, ORGREL have gone a-hunting, their ’90s black metal classicism stalking and striking with a hunger only hinted at previously. Still, fueled by this fire they may be, the Italians across this mini manage to maximize their epic side, with the predecessor’s flat-yet-full soundfield now becoming slightly more chromatic in the process. Lead lines portend dark truths, ever building in tension and then grandeur, but the record’s swift-yet-satisfying runtime reveals the darkest, most intrinsic truth: black metal doesn’t need to “become” anything when it already IS. After 2019’s well-received Endless Trails demo via SIGNAL REX, HOLLOW WOODS strike with a full-length debut fittingly titled Cold Winds Cleave the Earth. While hailing from Finland, this mysterious entity largely eschew their homeland’s reigning black metal idiom, instead taking influence from Ukraine (Roman Saenko’s projects), Norway (early Ulver, equally early Gorgoroth), and especially Russia (the Blazebirth Hall collective). In other words, pure & proud BLACK METAL, nevertheless done with personality and charisma.
