  • Warmoon Lord (FIN) – Burning Banners Of The Funereal War LP 30.88

    Black Metal

Originally released in various limited editions since early 2019, Burning Banners of the Funereal War began the saga that is WARMOON LORD. Arguably the best-kept secret of the ever-fertile Finnish black metal underground, the band is the sole work of one Lord Vrajitor, a prolific figure in the wider Finnish music underground, but also concurrently the mainman of Old Sorcery. But whereas that band largely/mostly works within the dungeon synth genre, WARMOON LORD is pure & proud black metal of a most fantastical nature – equally medieval, maybe even more so, but burning with icy-hot passion that so fired the second wave during the mythical 1990s.

  • Warmoon Lord (FIN) / Vultyrium (FIN) – Pure Cold Impurity LP 26.88

    Black Metal

Originally released in a limited edition in early 2020, this split album features exclusive tracks from two uprising hordes among Finland’s ever-fertile black metal underground, and both being bands who’ve since released crimes via WEREWOLF. WARMOON LORD should require no introduction after 2021’s superlative Battlespells, and here does Lord Vrajitor expand upon his classicist muse: medieval black metal majesty from the mid/late ’90s, with special emphasis on spectral synths for this recording. For their part, VULTYRIUM might’ve released one of 2022’s dark-horse hits with their self-titled album, but it was here where mainman The Vultyrian established his crude-yet-cruising style of black metal rife buttressed by somber bass work, at times evoking early Algaion. Together, seven spells cast in 38 minutes: Pure Cold Impurity raises the banners – again – of modern Finlandia resistance!

  • Werwolf (DEU) – Schlachtruf LP 26.88

    RAC/Oi!

The band, founded in Gütersloh in 1988, shone in 1991 with their second (mini) album entitled “Schlachtruf”. Although there were only seven songs on this disc, it represented a good bridge until the next full album, which was released in 1992 under the title “Eternal Scars” and at the same time marked the end of the East Westphalian music group’s musical activities. So if you want to indulge in the Pogo wise men of the time again, garnished with the criminally harmless pieces from the first LP “Vereint”, you’ve come to the right place and should grab it immediately, because as we all know, life punishes anyone who comes too late. Everything in the best vinyl sound quality (no side longer than 20 minutes)!

  • White Death (FIN) – Iconoclast LP 28.88

    Black Metal

For a decade now, Finland’s WHITE DEATH have built a small-yet-formidable canon of work that’s come to define modern underground black metal in their nation. It’s no secret that Finland has possessed one of the most potent black metal scenes from the early ’90s onward, and with each new generation that picks up the torch, some are contenders and others are just content to uphold “the Finnish sound.” WHITE DEATH took their time with deploying demos and then their debut album, simply self-titled, but they occupied a unique position between those poles: steeped in noble tradition, but exuding a confidence and charisma that rendered White Death an exceptionally nasty work even with its considerably cleaner production. Three years of silence followed between the release of that debut album and the three-song Promo 2020, which included an Enochian Crescent cover – an inspired choice from an oft-unsung legend, and a portent of grandeur to come.

  • White Noise (AUS) – Reckless Aggression LP 28.88

    RAC/Oi!

With “Reckless Aggression,” the Australian skinhead/Oi! punk band White Noise released a live album on Rock-O-Rama Records in 1990 that blurred the lines between powerful punk, hardcore, and the unleashed primal power of skinhead rock. The album’s opening seconds are like a punch in the face—a merciless, furious performance that makes it clear from the very first note that this band has no intention of engaging in diplomatic peace negotiations.

White Noise’s musical roots are deeply rooted in the world of Oi! and punk rock, but “Reckless Aggression” goes a step further. The sound is reminiscent of the wild days of Motörhead—with a blend of dirty rock ‘n’ roll and uncompromising hardcore that tears down everything in its path. In addition to music, this is also about an attitude, an outlook that swings through the record grooves like an imaginary wrecking ball.

  • White Noise (AUS) – The First Assault LP 28.88

    RAC/Oi!

Anyone who thinks street rock’n’roll is merely a British cultural asset will get a full-throttle broadside from Down Under with “The First Assault.” White Noise from Fremantle, Western Australia, released a debut album on Rock-O-Rama Records in 1989 that crashed through the windshield of mediocrity like a cobblestone. There’s no lamentation here, there’s confrontation. No room for poetry – only harsh truths and the unvarnished confrontation with reality.

White Noise fuse Australian skinhead hardcore with British street sound. Tracks like “Clockwork Violence,” “Rebels,” and “We Don’t Need It” scream out their frustration into a world that sees the individual only as a consumer. This album is a musical expression of discontent in one piece: harsh, loud, honest. No pathos, just full throttle. It’s about identity, anger, and belonging – set to music with piercing guitars, pounding bass lines, driving drums, and a frontman who, in a Motörhead-like manner, manifests his lines rather than sings them.

  • White Rune (FIN) – Dawn of the White Rune LP 28.88

    Black Metal

Although a brand-new entity, WHITE RUNE are a duo of SIELUNVIHOLLINEN frontman Ruttokieli on vocals, guitar, bass, and keyboards and his drummer brother Soldau, also currently of Ehre. In 2021, they exploded into being with two shockingly accomplished demos, The Spell of Winter Holocaust and The Eternal Fires of Cleansing, showing a new face to Finnish black metal by, paradoxically, harkening back to old times. And now that face is fully revealed with the full-length Dawn of the White Rune. Indeed consolidating WHITE RUNE’s considerable strengths, the band’s aptly titled debut album bursts forth with an effervescence that’s undeniable – and undeniably unique, within the wider sphere of Finnish black metal. With vampiric organ to the fore but thankfully eluding the mawkish excess of “vampiric black metal,” WHITE RUNE proceed to wind and wend through an ever-surging storm of mysticism and malevolence. Their violence is real and the passion palpable, but there’s a deft touch to their dynamics here; nightsky splendor and astral awe are always present, no matter the tempo, and actual lead guitar plays an equally central role in conveying the emotions coursing through Dawn of the White Rune. And while comparisons to contemporaneous countrymen Faustian Pact, Vargrav, and Mooncitadel are certainly valid, more accurately could WHITE RUNE here harken back to the late ’90s works of Darkwoods My Betrothed, Thyrane, Alghazanth, Trollheims Grott, and even …And Oceans, thereby bringing the lineage full circle like the Ouroboros itself. To celebrate this momentous occasion, HAMMER OF HATE will also release a compilation titled The Spell of Eternal Fire, bringing together both WHITE RUNE demos. In the meantime, open thine eyes and witness the Dawn of the White Rune!
