The USBM project ECLIPSUS was founded by solo member Coughin Wraught (Noctilucent, Serpentshrine) in 2018.

As as step away from his other raw black metal projects, ECLIPSUS is a medium for more emotional extraction and self-reflection: The debut album “Yurei” followed the steps of entropy through an individual’s path to suicide in the japanese forest of Aokigahara.

This second opus “Sullen . Euphoria” follows this path traced by Coughin Wraught: his music can be seen as an introspection, a deep inner journey carried away by a rumbling, melancholic, sometimes violent swell, which closes in on itself again and again…
its majestic guitar leads, carried by a distant and gaunt voice, will immerse you in a soaring, strange but unique and beautiful atmosphere.

Hailing from Finland, while EMBRYONIC SLUMBER may be a brand-new entity in name, the duo are longtime veterans of the underground: VARGRAV / DRUADAN FOREST mainman V-Khaoz and Hellwind Inferion, an incredibly prolific drummer but more recently known as the vocalist for both Sargeist and Desolate Shrine. And while what they create together as EMBRYONIC SLUMBER may show slight shades of their collective pasts, the resulting recording – the full-length In Worship Our Blood is Buried, the band’s bolt-from-the-blue debut – handily transcends comparisons altogether.

With its gloomy and epic Dark Metal, Empyrium’s first release isn’t only the groundwork of Schwadorf’s further musical creativity. «A Wintersunset …» was also the starting signal for the label Prophecy Productions, as the name «Prophecy» had previously just been in use for a mail-order.

With “Songs Of Moors And Misty Fields” (1997), Schwadorf perfected his dark Metal full of classical Romanticism and traditional folklore. The album relates back to the band’s debut “A Wintersunset …”, but also delivers the blue-print for their later development into more tranquil folk sceneries.

Neofolk

Their third album sees Empyrium abandoning the Metal elements of their music for the first time, instantly creating a classic of nature-romantic acoustic music.
Inspired by Ulver’s «Kveldssanger», this work is more influenced by the folklore of Schwadorf’s home region, the Rhoen, than any other album by Empyrium, and it paved the way for «Weiland» (2002).

First released in 1993 as a mini 12” LP, “Hordanes Land” was also released a few weeks later as a split CD album with Emperor and is considered a key release in the development of Viking metal.

The By Norse Music re-issue on physical formats features exclusive liner notes and quotes by major figures of the Black metal scene such as Fenriz (Darkthrone), Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ), Lee Barret (Candlelight) and Hrymr (Helheim) among others, a reassembled layout respectfully done by Marcelo Vasco. All formats feature the original songs entirely remastered by Iver Sandøy at Solslottet Studio (Bergen, Norway) and the bonus track “Enslaved”, from the Enslaved split with Satyricon “Yggdrasill”, released in 1992.
