CRAFT return to strike terror once again with their long-awaited new album ‘White Noise and Black Metal’. Neofolk

It marks a radical departure from previous Drudkh works in that all songs are entirely acoustic, arranged in the manner of traditional Ukrainian folk. Several songs contain elements of previous Drudkh material: “Tears of Gods” contains elements of “Fate”, “The Milky Way” is a rearranged version of “Blood” and “Archaic Dance” references “Glare of 1768”, all three of which originally appeared on The Swan Road, “Why the Sun Becomes Sad” contains elements of “Sunwheel” from Autumn Aurora, and “The Cranes Will Never Return Here” is an acoustic rendition of the opening riff from the Blood in Our Wells track “Solitude”.

After their Neo-Folk opus, ‘Songs of Grief and Solitude’, with this latest effort DRUDKH returns to their Black Metal roots, with five long compositions in the epic and melancholic vein of ‘Forgotten Legends’, although with better sound, organic drums, and brilliant bass playing, in sum displaying the sophistication of ‘Blood in Our Wells’.

This masterwork comes with new artwork. “The Swan Road” continues in the spirit of “Autumn Aurora” with the band’s trademark Slavonic Pagan Metal sound, which embraces epic folk-influenced melodies and creates cinematic and luxuriant atmospheres charged with melancholy. Lyrically DRUDKH’s creative figurehead Roman Saenko draws heavily from the poem “The Haidamakas” of Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861), a humanist, painter and the founding father of Ukrainian literature.
