  • Shades Of Vrsaj’Kett (USA) – Vengeful Spirit Black Metal LP 24.88

    Black Metal

Five hymns of tormented raw black metal, heralded by delicate pianosong performed by én glasse, obliterated by the wrath of the enigmatic spectres responsible for the lucid primitivism of this ode to the terrors of the dark.

According to The Hollowed Wraith, one of its two members, Shades of Vrasj’kett “is meant to represent the once dead and deceived coming to life once more in spirit form to take vengeance on those who wronged them. In this case, the City of Vrsaj’kett is where these spirits, or ‘Shades’ derive from, and all that enter near or around it will be cursed & plagued with death.

This grim, tormented sound is illuminated with another stellar artwork from the eminent Rotting Reign.

  • Shores of Ladon (DEU) – Heimkehr LP 26.88

    Black Metal

SHORES OF LADON’s new EP “Heimkehr” (‘homecoming’) includes four new songs and a cover version, spanning over 26 minutes of duration altogether. The title itself shows yet again the band’s subtle sense for ambiguity: While referring to Orpheus’ retrieval of Eurydice from the underworld, which forms the core concept of the lyrics herein, as well as to a poetic German word for death, this EP also features old pre-Shores of Ladon songs ‘returning home’. Two of them (“Verlust” and “Jagdgrund”) originate from a nameless demo tape recorded in 2006 by St. and drummer M. (Cold Earth, Thorybos, Stygian Temple) with the lost lyrics being substituted. Also the title track pre-dates the band’s formation and was written by guitarist Nosophoros in 2008, re-arranged for SoL’s “Promo 2010” and now taking its final shape with re-arranged lyrics on this EP. Last but not least, and as very personal gaze into the past, “Abstieg” and “Weltenende” illustrate various SHORES OF LADON members’ deeply rooted passion for the Neofolk genre. The first is an own rendition and tribute while the latter is a cover version of one of this culture’s greatest hymns of the last two decades, “Ragnarok” by mighty Sonne Hagal.

  • Sigh (JPN) – Scorn Defeat WHITE LP 34.88

    Black Metal

‘Scorn Defeat’ was originally released in 1993 after the band had signed to Mayhem guitarist Euronymous’ emerging Deathlike Silence Productions, with the album eventually surfacing following his death (& also dedicated in his honour). With a deep appreciation for the black metal masters of the 80’s such as Celtic Frost & Venom, Sigh would also masterfully weave intricate keyboard textures & skilled piano composition courtesy of Mirai Kawashima among the Frostfuelled riffing to create an atmospherically distinctive & dark sound. The lyrical content was also unusual for the time, incorporating strong elements of occultism & eastern mysticism to differentiate them somewhat from their Scandinavian peers.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – Boots and Braces LP 28.88

    RAC/Oi!

The disc contains a total of eight songs from the band Skrewdriver’s work. Then as now, it was by no means a regular LP, but rather a compilation of songs from singles and samplers from the period 1977 to 1987. Compared to the original, two songs that were index-relevant on other Skrewdriver recordings had to be removed from this disc. “I don’t like you” and “Boots & Braces” flew down, “Shove the dove” and “Smash the I.R.A.” were newly added.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – The Strong Survive GREEN LP 28.88

    RAC/Oi!

“The Strong Survive” was the 7th regular studio album by the English legend around Ian Stuart Donaldson. The disc was recorded in 1989 and released in early 1990 on Herbert Egoldt’s Rock-o-Rama Records label in Cologne. On this work, guitarist Stigger demonstrated his skills for the first time in the service of Skrewdriver. He brought in the typical hard, metallic rock sound of the band’s later years, which would characterize all subsequent productions from this point onwards.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – Warlord GREEN LP 28.88

    RAC/Oi!

Released in 1989 on Herbert Egoldt’s Cologne-based Rock-O-Rama Records label, the album “Warlord” marked a unique milestone in Skrewdriver’s discography. The sixth Skrewdriver studio album was recorded by Mac (guitar), Merv Shields (bass), John Burnley (drums), and, of course, Ian Stuart (vocals + guitar). Musically, the band was influenced by the epic heaviness of American heavy metal greats like Manowar. For the choral vocals, Ian Stuart brought in additional vocalists, Ken McLellan (Brutal Attack) and Paul Burnley (No Remorse), to the recording studio.
