  • Brutal Combat (FRA) – Charles Martel LP 26.88

    RAC/Oi!

When the English RAC was enjoying its impressive heyday 40 years ago with bands like Skrewdriver, Brutal Attack, No Remorse, Squadron and Skullhead, France also had its music groups that received great attention across national borders: Evil Skins, Legion88, Bunker84, Kontingent88 and the aforementioned BRUTAL COMBAT. Their powerful music was always a reflection of the harsh everyday life on the street. Honest, straightforward music that didn’t sugarcoat anything and implanted barbs in the listener’s brain as the sounds directly amounted to a slap in the face.

  • Burial Moon (EST) – Burial Moon CD 14.88

    Black Metal

Burial Moon are a mysterious international entity which may or may not include members as distant as Northern Europe as well as the southernmost climes of Europe. Grim and ethereal is their black metal, as the four lengthy tracks across their 22-minute Burial Moon mini-album cast a spell of raw mysticism immediately felt. The guitar tone alone, despite being hypnotically melodic, sounds like decay in realtime; the vocals suitably hover above the ever-surging miasma like a malignant spectre, and often take on a disembodied choral effect. And, for as lengthy as those four component tracks are, their song titles go to great lengths – literally – to convey the psychic headspace Burial Moon are occupying on their public debut.

  • Burier (AUS) – V – Cremation of Lingering Hope MC 11.88

    Black Metal

Slithering beneath the scum of shadow, greasy film of desolation reflecting the filth of the fenland, hiding that which lies beneath the squalid depths. The one the shamans whisper herald of the Swamp Spirit, the one they call Burier, concealer of dreams and maker of pain. Wielding the hammer of plague since the age of 2019, this marsh monstrosity has been breathing foulest of incantation since this time, coiling vine thorns of sadism around its victims that grow tighter with each spell spent into the drain hole of existence. As those thorny vines grow tighter around mortal throats, Burier has ensorcelled its most realised incantation to date, and through the iron gilded lantern of GoatowaRex verdigris putrefaction does it come to acolytes in physical form. Dreams of infinite agony made flesh upon terror of tape.

  • Burning Winds (USA) – Hell And Damnation CD 16.88

    Black Metal

For those who’ve lurked within the black metal underground since the late ’90s, the name BURNING WINDS should carry the cultest cachet. Formed in 1997, the band is the sole creative province of one NecroDan, hailing from the American wasteland of Michigan, which unbirthed such foul entities as Masochist, SUMMON, and Wind of the Black Mountains. BURNING WINDS are very much of this sonic lineage, defiantly utilizing the ugliest, most primitive black metal in the most unorthodox of ways. For many, the band first came to attention / infamy via Paul Ledney’s extremely short-lived Necroscope label and the seemingly full-length The Flame of Lucifer – here, also underlining the aesthetic links to PROFANATICA and especially HAVOHEJ – but “seemingly” in the sense that that recording was album length and yet otherwise considered an EP; the same could be said for 2005’s classic Cease to Exist compilation. As the decades slogged on, NecroDan would intermittently emerge with a new / “new” recording, always in the most underground manner and with absolutely zero fanfare, preferring the private and autodidactic over any sort of cultivated “mystery” or scene involvement.
