  • Skrewdriver (UK) – Freedom What Freedom + Bonus LP 30.88

    RAC/Oi!

The legendary Skrewdriver album “Freedom What Freedom” from 1992 is back – now in an edition featuring a total of 18 tracks! The album not only includes 11 songs from the original release, but also 7 bonus tracks from the “Hail The New Dawn” LP, which are sure to delight fans and collectors alike. With “Freedom What Freedom,” the band made a successful return to its former strength. After the rather mediocre albums “The Strong Survive” and “Live & Kicking,” Skrewdriver rediscovered its original, raw sound – with a lineup that hadn’t changed in years: Ian Stuart on vocals, Stigger on guitar, Jon Hickson on bass, and John Burnley on drums. The multi-layered guitar playing is particularly noteworthy. Every solo is a delight, yet always in harmony with the structure and emotional depth of the songs. The drummer shines with precise percussion that makes the band’s sound even more impressive and powerful.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – The Strong Survive GREEN LP 30.88

    RAC/Oi!

“The Strong Survive” was the 7th regular studio album by the English legend around Ian Stuart Donaldson. The album was recorded in 1989 and released in early 1990 on Herbert Egoldt’s Cologne-based Rock-o-Rama Records label. On this album, guitarist Stigger demonstrated his skills in the service of Skrewdriver for the first time. He introduced the typical hard, metallic rock sound of the band’s late years, which was to characterize all subsequent productions.
With this record, Skrewdriver finally made the transition from an angry punk rock / Oi! / RAC band to a powerful rock band. The predecessor album “After The Fire” already hinted at this transition. Songs such as “Stand Proud”, “Backstabber” or the calm “Mist On The Downs” bear impressive witness to how Ian Stuart’s charismatic voice and biting social criticism repeatedly succeeded in creating new highlights. Long-time fans were already prepared to accept that the band were gradually introducing hard rock elements into their Oi! sound, but direct metal was a little too much of a good thing for many of the “bootboys”.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – Warlord GREEN LP 30.88

    RAC/Oi!

Released in 1989 on Herbert Egoldt’s Cologne-based Rock-O-Rama Records label, the album ‘Warlord’ marked an idiosyncratic milestone in the Skrewdriver discography. The sixth Skrewdriver studio album was recorded by Mac (guitar), Merv Shields (bass), John Burnley (drums) and, of course, Ian Stuart (vocals + guitar). Musically, the band was influenced by the epic heaviness of American heavy metal greats such as Manowar. For the choir vocals, Ian Stuart brought in additional voices with Ken McLellan (Brutal Attack) and Paul Burnley (No Remorse) on board, or rather into the recording studio.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – When The Storm Breaks LP 30.88

    RAC/Oi!

Here comes the joy! Limited re-release of the second Skrewdriver album on Rock-O-Rama Records, which can no longer be distributed in the “best Germany ever” due to its title. The recordings have been digitally remastered and the sound has been improved compared to the 2007 edition. The current edition is limited to 499 units in black vinyl. Compared to the 2007 edition, more tracks have unfortunately been removed from the A-side, but these have been more than equally replaced by three sampler songs. As the included material can certainly be regarded as historically valuable, all those who were either too late for the original release or who want to supplement or complete their Skrewdriver vinyl collection with an official re-release should grab this. Compared to the 3rd edition, the front and back covers of the 4th edition have been slightly optimized visually. However, these would be the only changes compared to the previous edition.

  • Skrewdriver (UK) – White Rider LP 30.88

    RAC/Oi!

Ian Stuart was imprisoned in 1986 for defending himself and his comrades against an attack by black people. He spent his year in prison writing new songs for Skrewdriver and articles for fanzines. “White Rider” was released towards the end of 1987 and consisted mainly of songs he had written during his imprisonment. The album is now considered Skrewdriver’s best work in terms of lyrics, sound, and musical performance. But first, after Ian’s release from prison, Skrewdriver went to Mark Sutherland’s studio with Martin Cross (guitar), Merv Shields (bass), John Burnley (drums), and, of course, Ian Stuart (vocals) to record the “White Rider” LP. However, the band was anything but satisfied with the result and decided to re-record the entire album from scratch, which they did a few weeks later. It was a good decision: six weeks after its release, 5,000 copies had already been sold.

  • Slagmaur (NOR) – Hulders Ritual LP 28.88

    Black Metal

With their fourth studio album “Hulders Ritual” (‘Ritual of the Huldra’), SLAGMAUR break the chains of repetition and nostalgia by rewriting the rules of black metal. This does not mean abandoning the foundations of the genre, which is already indicated by working with the ‘inventor’ of the ‘Norwegian black metal sound’, THORNS mastermind Snorre W. Ruch, as an additional producer. The band’s founder, General Gribbsphiiser, rather unafraid and with reckless abandon mutates and warps the traditional formula through a host of subtle innovations and tweaks of the classic sound. Although “Hulders Ritual” continues, refines, and widens the daring stylistic balance of SLAGMAUR’s previous works, it adds an extra dimension of sardonic mania to its collection of sharp and vicious sonic instruments. Choice guest-contributions that include TAAKE vocalist Hoest, DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz, and MISÞYRMING frontman D.G., who cover three decades of Nordic black metal make a case in point.

  • Snix (FRA) ‎– Quand Le Soleil Se Levera LP 26.88

    RAC/Oi!

In the 1980s, France produced a number of impressive Oi! bands that stood out for their energy, authenticity and passion. One of the most outstanding representatives of this genre was undoubtedly the formation, which originally consisted of three brothers – Didier (vocals), Boni (drums) and Manu (bass) – as well as a childhood friend, Fred (guitar). Their 1986 record “Quand Le Soleil Se Levera” (Eng: When the Sun Rises) is a milestone of the French Oi!. Recorded in Lille, the band’s hometown, the album combines raw Oi!/Punk with catchy melodies and engaging lyrics. Classics like “Ces Annes La”, “Europe” and “Clockwork Orange” show the group’s versatility and their ability to captivate the listener.

  • Solanum (DEU) – Spectral Poetry MARBLE LP 28.88

    Dungeon Synth

Solanum was founded by B.S. back in 1997 after Depressive Silence split up. Compared to Depressive Silence Solanum’s concept is more cosmic and its sound has a different, rather uplifting and more futuristic atmosphere, but like Depressive Silence the Solanum demos are genre classics and provided a considerable influence for later Dungeon Synth and Cosmic Black Metal projects.

So it is a great honour for Northern Silence to be able to reissue both Solanum demos, remastered for optimal sound, and for the first time ever with exclusive artworks by master artist David Thiérée.

  • Sorcier des Glaces (CAN) – Moonrise In Total Darkness MARBLE LP 28.88

    Black Metal

“Sorcier Des Glaces’ second offering to the mortal world was recorded just two years after the very first album, in August 1999. Nevertheless, the maturity of their sound and composition is perceptible. It’s no longer a one-man band this time, involving Luc more extensively, who this time records all the drum parts and also participates in the elaboration of several keyboard parts. The infernal duo is officially up and running.

    Black Metal

New LP edition of the full-length from 1998 .
Snowland is cold, really cold, pure, lo-fi in the extreme, achieving the very first goal of what Sorcier Des Glaces wanted to evoke in the eyes of the world. Expressing disgust with the human race by exiling himself to its own snowland, the melodies evoke a certain romanticism of the great Nordic forests. He is then alone to begin his reign on his night’s throne.

  • Sorgetid (FIN) – Natt av tusen dödsfall LP 26.88

    Black Metal

Truly, the evidence is there with SORGETID’s first public recording, the full-length Natt av Tusen Dödsfall. Endearingly and engagingly familiar yet done with the deft nous for which V-Khaoz is known, SORGETID’s first salvo is based purely on intuition and the man’s need “to get quite old stuff out of my head – no future, no past.” Existing within those reverently stringent boundaries, Natt av Tusen Dödsfall unveils a landscape rife with melancholy and madness, nostalgia and nightsky mysticism, fury and wonder woven together with elder chainmail forged in the fires of olde. Eight songs across 37 minutes are more than sufficient to paint the atmospheres and sensations that seemingly exist out of time. The album’s no less raw nor polished than it needs to be; rather, it IS, unyielding and undying.
